GENERAL SECRETARY OF EFATHA CHURCH PROFESSOR EMMANUEL CHAO
The Bible reminds us that the inheritance and possession of God’s children are bound within the kingdom of God, and nothing can be attained outside that kingdom. As you deepen your understanding of the kingdom of God, you also come to receive the blessings it holds.
Colossians 1:12 says, “Giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the light.” Our inheritance is preserved within the light and cannot mingle with anything outside of it.
Ephesians 1:13-14 says, “And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.” Everything that concerns the possession of God’s children is the fulfillment prepared by God to bring redemption of His possessions to His people.
When you possess something, it is not for yourself but for the kingdom of God. Any ambassador who buys land in another country does not own it personally; though he may possess it, the land belongs to the country he represents. We who are saved are ambassadors of Christ, representing the kingdom of God here on earth. When God speaks about us possessing, it is not a personal matter; rather, you need to open your understanding and recognize the royal language being used. That ownership is your right, enabling you to attain it.
2 Chronicles 1:7-12 says, “…God said to Solomon, Since this was in your heart and you did not ask for wealth, possessions, or honor, nor for the death of your enemies, and since you did not ask for a long life but for wisdom and knowledge to govern my people over whom I have made you king, therefore wisdom and knowledge will be given you. And I will also give you wealth, possessions, and honor, such as no king who was before you ever had and none after you will have.”
When God asked Solomon a question, Solomon didn’t prepare his answer but instead responded with what was in his heart. That desire gave him the possession of all things. Why did Solomon seek wisdom from God? It was his priority, but not to be renowned as a great king. Rather, he sought it to preserve the kingdom and the people that God entrusted to him.
This is our year to possess, and we have been declared to possess. But if we ask you why you want to possess, you may answer that it’s because this is the year of possession. However, you need to recognize that you will only receive that possession if your purpose aligns with God’s purpose. This may seem simple, but it carries God’s intent for you.
The heart of a person who is not prepared, when it encounters the power of the kingdom, can cause great destruction.
Jesus said in Matthew 6:33, “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” You need to receive the kingdom first to receive the righteousness within it as well.
