Obadiah 1:17: “But on Mount Zion will be deliverance; it will be holy, and the house of Jacob will possess their inheritance.”
On Mount Zion, there is redemption, holiness, and the possession of our inheritance. Mount Zion represents the time of the new covenant, while Mount Sinai represents the old covenant.
Hebrews 12:18-21: “You have not come to a mountain that can be touched and that is burning with fire; to darkness, gloom and storm; to a trumpet blast or to such a voice speaking words that those who heard it begged that no further word be spoken to them, because they could not bear what was commanded: ‘If even an animal touches the mountain, it must be stoned to death.’ The sight was so terrifying that Moses said, ‘I am trembling with fear.”
Mount Sinai represents the following:
- The Law, because that is where God introduced His laws.
- Fear, because even Moses said he was afraid. He was speaking to God while afraid, and everything was done with trembling.
- Trembling.
Hebrews 12:22: “But you have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem. You have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly.”
Mount Zion is the new covenant, meaning the new church. Mount Zion is a place of strength and deliverance; it is a good place. You and I are in Mount Zion and not Mount Sinai, because we are in the era of grace.
Many things are possible when you are on Mount Zion.
