God’s law is to save His people

God’s law is to save His people

Pastor Stefan Adefors from Sweden.

Jesus took three disciples and went up a mountain to pray. While they were there, the disciples fell asleep. When they woke up, they saw Jesus with a shining face, and His clothes were also shining. He was not alone, but Moses and Elijah were with Him.

Then His disciples said to Jesus, “Let us build three shelters: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” The faith we have was built on the prophecy of what was to come. Let us build houses and dwell there.

Luke 16:16-17: “The Law and the Prophets were proclaimed until John; since then, the good news of the kingdom of God is preached, and everyone forces their way into it. But it is easier for heaven and earth to disappear than for the smallest point of the law to be dropped.”

In the beginning, humans lived by the law, where everything they did was guided by it, and everyone had to follow it. Anyone who disobeyed was destroyed. Jesus came to this world to save us. The law kills, but God’s grace revives and saves.

God’s law is to save His people. The grace of salvation was brought to us on the day the law was abolished. When the law was introduced, people died, but when grace came, people were saved. What humanity lost, Jesus has restored to us. Today, we live within the Kingdom, and Jesus has given us a new law that fulfills all the other laws, which is grace.

THERE ARE TWO MAIN LAWS FOR THE SAINTS:

  1. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.
  2. Love your neighbor as yourself.

These are the two laws you must fulfill.

2 Corinthians 1:19-21: “For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us—by me, Silas, and Timothy—was not ‘Yes’ and ‘No,’ but in Him, it has always been ‘Yes.’ For no matter how many promises God has made, they are ‘Yes’ in Christ. And so through Him, the ‘Amen’ is spoken by us to the glory of God. Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us.”

After Jesus came to this world and died for us, something new happened. God came to us the day Jesus died on the cross. God left the buildings (the temple) and entered within us, because the law was abolished and grace took its place. From that moment on, God lives in our hearts. When we leave the church, God does not remain there; He is with us. And when we gather together, God is in our midst.

After Jesus died on the cross, something new happened for us. The law that was killing was replaced by the gospel that saves through the path of salvation. There are two powerful things in this world that God will not interfere with:

  1. The Word of God—this is more powerful than the authority of God, because even God Himself cannot go against His Word; rather, He fulfills it.
  2. God has no authority over your life unless you allow Him to enter into your life. That is why God had to come in the form of a man through Jesus Christ to save us. Jesus could not remain in heaven to save us.

The great problem for humanity was sin and the laws that were destroying people. Jesus came, died on the cross, and from that moment on, there is no law, and all our sins have been forgiven. You are the one who must allow God to work here on earth by inviting Him into your life.
