The Identity of a Child of God

Preacher: Bishop Thabo Masenya (South Africa)
Scripture: Deuteronomy 28:1-14

INTRODUCTION

Blessing is not just a word we speak it is a spiritual state.
When you say “I am blessed,” you mean that you carry a spirit within you that attracts good things.
When you say “I am cursed,” you mean you are empowered to fail in everything you do.
Today, God wants us to understand our true position as His blessed children.

  1. THE MEANING OF BEING BLESSED

What Is a Blessing?

  • A blessing is a spirit that comes to dwell within you.
  • A blessing is the divine ability to succeed in everything.
  • A blessing is the assurance of success that comes from God.

The Protection of the Blessing

  • “The one whom God has blessed, no one can curse” (Numbers 23:20).
  • The devil cannot play with you when you know your position.
  • You are an ambassador of Heaven, and ambassadors are protected.
  1. CONDITIONS FOR REMAINING IN BLESSING

Do Not Follow Other Gods
Deuteronomy 28:14 clearly states:

  • “Do not turn aside from any of the commands I give you.”
  • “Do not follow other gods.”

Two Key Conditions:

  1. Do not follow other gods.
  2. Obey the Word of your God.

Avoid Following Other Gods Through Customs

  • Saying “I am an African and this is our tradition” is not an excuse.
  • Human traditions that contradict God’s Word can become false gods.
  • God requires your complete and undivided obedience.
  1. SIGNS OF A BLESSED CHILD

Actions That Demonstrate Blessing

  • Your peace should reflect your blessing.
  • Your actions should show who you are.
  • Your speech should reveal who owns you.

  • “You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the field.”
  • Blessings are not confined to one location:
    • In the city, you are blessed.
    • In the village, you are blessed.
    • In small towns, you are still blessed.

Blessings Follow You

  • They do not just come they follow you.
  • When you go home, blessings follow you.
  • When you go to work, blessings follow you.
  • In your business, blessings follow you.

Blessings Upon Your Entire Family Line
Deuteronomy 28:4 declares:

  • “The fruit of your womb will be blessed.”
  • “Your crops will be blessed.”
  • “Your livestock will be blessed.”

Take Action Now:

  • Lay your hand on your womb and declare blessings.
  • Speak blessings over your crops.
  • Speak blessings over your livestock.
  1. THE RESULTS OF BLESSING

God Opens His Heavenly Treasures
Deuteronomy 28:12 proclaims:

  • “The Lord will open the heavens, the storehouse of His bounty.”
  • “He will bless all the work of your hands.”
  • “You will lend to many nations but will borrow from none.”

The Promise to Lend, Not Borrow

  • God places you in the position of a lender.
  • You are released from the bondage of debt.
  • You are positioned to give to others, not to beg.
