TITLE: THE JOURNEY TO POSSESSION
Genesis 12:1-3 “Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee: And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.”
There are some people God raised in the Bible who wanted something related to where they are going, God gave them the grace of fatherhood to open that gate, among those people is Abraham, our father of Faith; He opened the door of Faith.
Why did Ibrahim become a pillar and a door for us?
Isaiah 51:1-2 “…Look unto Abraham your father, and unto Sarah that bare you: for I called him alone, and blessed him, and increased him.”
Isaiah reminds us that when it comes to receiving the Promise and possesion we should look to Abraham who is our father of Faith. The word says that all who belong to Christ are Abraham, why should we look at him?
There are things that every called Christian should understand:
1. The call to go out: this call is what makes you saved, this call is very special because before He called you, His Spirit was working in you first, He started making preparations to choose you. But when the season and times come, then you will respond and be made a Child.
You may have a desire to be used but before the season and times arrive you will not be able to succeed.
When God tells Abraham to go out, there are two things that God put in him:-
• Inheritance
• Offspring
Even though God promised him an inheritance, He also promised to give him a seed, and through the seed he will become a priest to the nations.
When God told us to look at Abraham, he wanted us to look at the nature of his calling, the duties, supposition and promise of his calling. Each one who is called (saved) has a stage to become a Nation; 1 Peter 2:9 “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:”
John 6:44 “No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.” no one can go to God unless he is sent, you who are saved should thank God because you have been chosen.
John 15:16 “Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.” You who is saved (born again), have not chosen yourself but have been chosen.
In the call to salvation, the first thing we see is the restoration of relationships,
You may have entered this calling (saved) but still behaviors that are not compatible with sonship are haunting you, that is the stage of infancy, you are preparing to become a son, and that stage of infancy is not the stage of ownership.
Ephesians 1:13-14 “In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.”
What was lost at the time of Adam was Possession, but in order for possession to return to you, the first thing is listen to the word; that word will cause you to be sealed and enter you to your possession (salvation).
God not only promised redemption but paid all the price by the manifestation of His Spirit, you who are saved have been stamped with the seal of the Spirit, that seal is a complete proof that you deserve all the ownership of the world and then eternal life, because on the last day that seal will be checked and assure you that you are a child of God.
CHRIST IS BORN IN YOU:
The step of Christ being born in you is the step that will take you out of childhood and become a child where you will belong.
You who received the call by hearing the word of God and even receiving salvation, how did you become a child of God? John 1:12 “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:”
The seed of sonship does not fail, you who is saved do not fail at anything, as they took Jesus to the cross and thought they were done, but they did not know that they were announcing the victory to him.
Child of God, whatever situation you are going through and see that you cannot overcome it, as long as you hold on to it the promise of sonship, don’t look at the environment but look at the one who made you a son and He will overcome you.
